The verdict
If you stay at Hilton, the Aspire is the stronger flagship, and notably it’s cheaper. It hands you Hilton’s very top status, Diamond, plus a larger credit stack, for $100 less than the Brilliant. For a Hilton loyalist, that combination of top-tier status and $400-plus in credits is hard to beat.
If you stay at Marriott, the Brilliant is your card, and Marriott’s larger global footprint means it may simply have hotels where Hilton doesn’t. Its 85,000-point free night can cover a spectacular property, and Platinum status meaningfully upgrades stays. Choose by chain and footprint: whichever brand has the hotels you actually book. If you’re truly chain-agnostic, note the Aspire gives top-tier status for less.
