Our review
The Amazon Business Card is the no-membership version of Amazon's U.S. Bank business card. It earns 3% at Amazon.com, Amazon Business, AWS, and Whole Foods, 3% on prepaid travel booked through U.S. Bank, 2% on your top 3 spending categories outside Amazon, and 1% everywhere else, with no annual fee and no Prime requirement.
That makes it a sensible choice for businesses that buy on Amazon but do not want to pay for Prime. The 2% on your top three categories is automatic, so it holds up better than most store-branded cards once you step outside Amazon.
Think twice if: your business already has Prime, since the Prime Business Card earns 5% at Amazon instead of 3%.
Our 7.4 out of 10 rating
Each score weighs the rewards rate, value after the annual fee, welcome offer, points flexibility, and perks, with every point valued at a flat 1 cent. This is our editorial assessment to help you compare cards, not a guarantee of approval or of the value you will get.

Rewards: how it earns
You earn 3% at Amazon.com, Amazon Business, AWS, and Whole Foods, and on prepaid travel in the U.S. Bank Travel Center. Outside Amazon, your top 3 eligible categories each month earn 2%, chosen automatically from a list that covers advertising, software, office supplies, airlines, hotels, utilities, shipping, gas, dining, groceries, and more. Everything else earns 1%. The 3% and 2% rates apply to the first $150,000 a year, then drop to 1%.
| Category | Rate | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon.com | 3% back | Bonus category |
| Dining and restaurants | 2% back | Bonus category |
| Groceries | 2% back | Bonus category |
| Gas | 2% back | Bonus category |
| Travel | 2% back | Bonus category |
| Office supplies | 2% back | Bonus category |
| Phone and internet bills | 2% back | Bonus category |
| Shipping | 2% back | Bonus category |
| Advertising | 2% back | Bonus category |
| Everything else | 1% back | Everything else |
The fine print on rates: No Prime membership required. The 3% at Amazon.com, Amazon Business, AWS, and Whole Foods and the 2% on your top 3 categories outside Amazon each apply to the first $150,000 a year, then 1%. Prime members should get the Prime Business Card instead, which pays 5% at Amazon.
Every point and mile above is valued at a flat 1 cent, the same honest standard we use for every card. Run your own spending through the calculator to see what this card would actually return for you.
Best ways to earn & redeem
Put your Amazon, dining, and groceries spending on this card to earn at its highest rates, and let a different card handle the categories it does not bonus. Its Amazon rate is on the modest side for that category, so compare before you commit.
When you cash in, take the rewards as cash back or a statement credit, worth a flat 1 cent each. We value every point at a flat 1 cent, so treat any transfer upside as a bonus rather than the baseline — see what your points are really worth.
Pros and cons
- 3% at Amazon, Amazon Business, AWS, and Whole Foods
- 2% on your top 3 categories outside Amazon
- No annual fee and no Prime required
- No foreign transaction fees
- Prime members earn more with the Prime Business Card
- Only 1% outside your top categories
The welcome bonus
New cardholders get an Amazon gift card or statement credit worth $100 or more, depending on the offer shown at application.
First-year value vs ongoing value
| Welcome bonus | $100 or more Amazon gift card or statement credit |
| To earn it | upon approval (amount varies by offer) |
| Est. first-year value* | $820 |
| Est. ongoing value / yr* | $720 |
The welcome bonus makes year one the high point: roughly $820 in value once you count the bonus, this card’s rewards, and its credits, minus the no fee. After that, the honest figure is about $720 a year, so judge whether it earns its keep on the ongoing number, not the first-year headline.
*First-year value counts the welcome bonus, estimated rewards, and annual credits, minus the annual fee; ongoing value is a typical year after. Every point at a flat 1 cent, on average spending.
Statement credits
This card does not come with recurring statement credits. Its value is in the rewards rate and welcome offer.
Who should get it, and who should skip it
Get the Amazon Business Card if you buy supplies on Amazon or run on AWS and do not want to pay for Prime. The automatic 2% on your top categories makes it a decent everyday card as well.
Skip it if you already have Prime. The Prime Business Card earns 5% at Amazon on the same terms.
