Our review
The Dillard's Mastercard earns 2 points per dollar at Dillard's, gas stations, and supermarkets, and 1 point everywhere else, with no annual fee. That sounds respectable until you see the redemption rate: 1,500 points for a $10 certificate, or about two-thirds of a cent per point.
In cash terms that is roughly 1.3% back at Dillard's, gas, and groceries and 0.67% on everything else, and all of it is Dillard's store credit. It is one of the weaker store cards I cover, and only worth it for devoted Dillard's shoppers who want the shopping passes and special financing.
Think twice if: you want real rewards. At under 1% on most purchases, nearly any flat cash back card earns more.
Our 3.4 out of 10 rating
Each score weighs the rewards rate, value after the annual fee, welcome offer, points flexibility, and perks, with every point valued at a flat 1 cent. This is our editorial assessment to help you compare cards, not a guarantee of approval or of the value you will get.

Rewards: how it earns
You earn 2 points per dollar at Dillard's and at gas stations and supermarkets, and 1 point everywhere else. Every 1,500 points becomes a $10 certificate or a one-day 10% off shopping pass. Valued at the certificate rate, that is about 1.3% in the bonus categories and 0.67% elsewhere. The 10% shopping pass can be worth more if you time it for a big purchase, but the base value is low.
| Category | Rate | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Groceries | 1.3x | Bonus category |
| Gas | 1.3x | Bonus category |
| Dining and restaurants | 0.7x | Base rate |
| Travel | 0.7x | Base rate |
| Streaming | 0.7x | Base rate |
| Everything else | 0.7x | Everything else |
The fine print on rates: Every 1,500 points becomes a $10 Dillard's certificate (or a one-day 10% off pass), so a point is worth about two-thirds of a cent: roughly 1.3% back at Dillard's, gas stations, and supermarkets, and 0.67% everywhere else. Rewards are only usable at Dillard's.
Every point and mile above is valued at a flat 1 cent, the same honest standard we use for every card. Run your own spending through the calculator to see what this card would actually return for you.
Best ways to earn & redeem
Put your groceries and gas spending on this card to earn at its highest rates, and let a different card handle the categories it does not bonus. Its groceries rate is on the modest side for that category, so compare before you commit.
When you cash in, take the rewards as cash back or a statement credit, worth a flat 1 cent each. We value every point at a flat 1 cent, so treat any transfer upside as a bonus rather than the baseline — see what your points are really worth.
Pros and cons
- 2 points per $1 at Dillard's, gas stations, and supermarkets
- 10% off shopping passes
- Special financing on in-store purchases
- No annual fee
- Points worth about two-thirds of a cent
- Under 1% back on most purchases
- Rewards only work at Dillard's
The welcome bonus
New cardholders get a 10% off welcome shopping pass, worth up to $100, by spending $100 at Dillard's on the day they are approved. It is a modest offer that only pays off on a large first purchase.
First-year value vs ongoing value
| Welcome bonus | 10% off welcome shopping pass (up to $100 off) |
| To earn it | $100 at Dillard's on the day you're approved |
| Est. first-year value* | $249 |
| Est. ongoing value / yr* | $249 |
There is no lump-sum welcome bonus, so first-year and ongoing value are about the same, roughly $249 a year on typical spending after the fee. What you see is what you get from day one.
*First-year value counts the welcome bonus, estimated rewards, and annual credits, minus the annual fee; ongoing value is a typical year after. Every point at a flat 1 cent, on average spending.
Benefits and protections
Beyond the rewards, the perks and protections worth knowing about include:

- 1 point per $1 everywhere else
- A $10 rewards certificate or a 10% off shopping pass for every 1,500 points
- Special financing on qualifying in-store purchases
Statement credits
This card does not come with recurring statement credits. Its value is in the rewards rate and welcome offer.
Who should get it, and who should skip it
Get the Dillard's Mastercard only if Dillard's is your go-to store and you value the shopping passes and in-store financing.
Everyone else should skip it. A flat 2% card like the Citi Double Cash earns three times as much on everyday spending.
