Our review

The SKYPASS Select Visa Signature is Korean Air's premium card, with a $450 fee. It earns 3 miles per dollar on Korean Air tickets, 2 on other airlines, hotels, car rentals, and dining, and 1 elsewhere, and comes with a $200 travel credit, four Priority Pass visits, two Korean Air lounge vouchers, and a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit.

The travel credit brings the real cost to about $250, which still needs heavy Korean Air flying to justify. It is a niche card for loyal Korean Air travelers.

Best for: frequent Korean Air flyers who will use the travel credit, lounge access, and twice-yearly ticket discount.
Think twice if: you fly Korean Air only once or twice a year, where the Visa Signature delivers most of the value for $99.

The fine print on rates: Miles are valued at a flat 1 cent. Spend $15,000 a year for 5,000 bonus miles, or $35,000 for 10,000 renewal miles. The $200 travel credit brings the effective fee to about $250.

Every point and mile above is valued at a flat 1 cent, the same honest standard we use for every card. Run your own spending through the calculator to see what this card would actually return for you.

Best ways to earn & redeem

Put your dining and travel spending on this card to earn at its highest rates, and let a different card handle the categories it does not bonus. Its dining rate is on the modest side for that category, so compare before you commit.

When you cash in, redeem the miles or points inside the single loyalty program this card is tied to. We value every point at a flat 1 cent, so treat any transfer upside as a bonus rather than the baseline — see what your points are really worth.

The welcome bonus

New cardholders earn 60,000 bonus miles after spending $5,000 in the first 90 days.

Is it worth the annual fee?

The $450 annual fee is offset by a $200 travel credit, four Priority Pass visits, two Korean Air lounge vouchers, and 5% off Korean Air tickets twice a year. You need to fly Korean Air regularly for the rest of the fee to make sense.

First-year value vs ongoing value

Welcome bonus60,000 bonus miles
To earn it$5,000 in the first 90 days
Est. first-year value*$835
Est. ongoing value / yr*$235

The welcome bonus makes year one the high point: roughly $835 in value once you count the bonus, this card’s rewards, and its credits, minus the $450 fee. After that, the honest figure is about $235 a year, so judge whether it earns its keep on the ongoing number, not the first-year headline.

*First-year value counts the welcome bonus, estimated rewards, and annual credits, minus the annual fee; ongoing value is a typical year after. Every point at a flat 1 cent, on average spending.
