Our review
The J.Crew Mastercard earns 5% back at J.Crew and J.Crew Factory, or 7.5% for Passport GOLD members, plus 2.5% on gas and groceries and 1.25% everywhere else, with no annual fee. Every 200 points is a $5 reward, so points are worth 2.5 cents each at J.Crew.
The 2.5% on gas and groceries is unusually good for a store card, and perks like free alterations and a $25 birthday gift sweeten it for regular customers. All rewards spend only at J.Crew, though.
Think twice if: you shop at J.Crew only occasionally, since the rewards only spend there.
Our 4.5 out of 10 rating
Each score weighs the rewards rate, value after the annual fee, welcome offer, points flexibility, and perks, with every point valued at a flat 1 cent. This is our editorial assessment to help you compare cards, not a guarantee of approval or of the value you will get.

The fine print on rates: Every 200 points becomes a $5 J.Crew reward, so points are worth 2.5 cents each but only at J.Crew and J.Crew Factory. The card gives instant NAVY access in J.Crew Passport; GOLD requires higher annual spending.
Every point and mile above is valued at a flat 1 cent, the same honest standard we use for every card. Run your own spending through the calculator to see what this card would actually return for you.
Best ways to earn & redeem
Put your groceries and gas spending on this card to earn at its highest rates, and let a different card handle the categories it does not bonus.
When you cash in, take the rewards as cash back or a statement credit, worth a flat 1 cent each. We value every point at a flat 1 cent, so treat any transfer upside as a bonus rather than the baseline — see what your points are really worth.

- No annual fee
- Rewards only spend at J.Crew

The welcome bonus
New cardholders get 20% off their first J.Crew or J.Crew Factory purchase with the card.
First-year value vs ongoing value
| Welcome bonus | 20% off your first purchase |
| To earn it | first J.Crew or J.Crew Factory purchase with the card |
| Est. first-year value* | $466 |
| Est. ongoing value / yr* | $466 |
There is no lump-sum welcome bonus, so first-year and ongoing value are about the same, roughly $466 a year on typical spending after the fee. What you see is what you get from day one.
*First-year value counts the welcome bonus, estimated rewards, and annual credits, minus the annual fee; ongoing value is a typical year after. Every point at a flat 1 cent, on average spending.

Beyond the rewards, the perks and protections worth knowing about include:
