Our review
The Nordstrom Visa Credit Card is really a membership card for Nordstrom regulars that happens to earn decent rewards elsewhere. At Nordstrom it earns up to 3 points per dollar, depending on your Nordy Club status. Outside the store it earns 2 points per dollar on gas, EV charging, groceries, dining, and streaming, and 1 point on everything else. Points become Nordstrom Notes at 1,000 points for $10.
Where it shines is the perks. Cardmembers get early access to the Anniversary Sale, an extra 5% off every Nordstrom Rack purchase, instant Influencer status, and alterations reimbursed in Notes. If you shop Nordstrom or the Rack regularly, those perks can be worth more than the points. If you don't, the Notes are stuck in a store you rarely visit.
Think twice if: you seldom shop at Nordstrom, because every point turns into Nordstrom Notes and the best perks only pay off for regular shoppers.
Our 4.6 out of 10 rating
Each score weighs the rewards rate, value after the annual fee, welcome offer, points flexibility, and perks, with every point valued at a flat 1 cent. This is our editorial assessment to help you compare cards, not a guarantee of approval or of the value you will get.

Rewards: how it earns
At Nordstrom you earn up to 3 points per dollar; the top rate requires higher Nordy Club status, and new cardmembers start at Influencer. Outside Nordstrom you get 2 points per dollar on gas, EV charging, groceries, dining, and streaming, and 1 point everywhere else. At 1,000 points per $10 Note, each point is worth 1 cent. The 2% categories are broad for a store card, which makes it usable day to day. The extra 5% off at Nordstrom Rack is applied at the register, so it stacks on top of the points.
| Category | Rate | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Dining and restaurants | 2x | Bonus category |
| Groceries | 2x | Bonus category |
| Gas | 2x | Bonus category |
| Streaming | 2x | Bonus category |
| Travel | 1x | Base rate |
| Everything else | 1x | Everything else |
The fine print on rates: Points turn into Nordstrom Notes at 1,000 points for $10, so each point is worth 1 cent, but Notes can only be spent at Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack. The top 3 points per $1 at Nordstrom requires higher Nordy Club status; new cardmembers start at Influencer. Points do not transfer to travel partners.
Every point and mile above is valued at a flat 1 cent, the same honest standard we use for every card. Run your own spending through the calculator to see what this card would actually return for you.
Best ways to earn & redeem
Put your dining, groceries, and gas spending on this card to earn at its highest rates, and let a different card handle the categories it does not bonus. Its dining rate is on the modest side for that category, so compare before you commit.
When you cash in, take the rewards as cash back or a statement credit, worth a flat 1 cent each. We value every point at a flat 1 cent, so treat any transfer upside as a bonus rather than the baseline — see what your points are really worth.

The welcome bonus
Right now new cardholders get $60 off their next Nordstrom purchase when approved by December 1, 2026. That is a solid offer for a free store card, so if you were planning a Nordstrom order anyway, it is a good time to apply.
First-year value vs ongoing value
| Welcome bonus | $60 off your next Nordstrom purchase |
| To earn it | when approved by December 1, 2026 |
| Est. first-year value* | $469 |
| Est. ongoing value / yr* | $409 |
The welcome bonus makes year one the high point: roughly $469 in value once you count the bonus, this card’s rewards, and its credits, minus the no fee. After that, the honest figure is about $409 a year, so judge whether it earns its keep on the ongoing number, not the first-year headline.
*First-year value counts the welcome bonus, estimated rewards, and annual credits, minus the annual fee; ongoing value is a typical year after. Every point at a flat 1 cent, on average spending.
Benefits and protections
Beyond the rewards, the perks and protections worth knowing about include:

- 1 point per $1 everywhere else Visa is accepted
- An extra 5% off every Nordstrom Rack purchase made with the card

Who should get it, and who should skip it
Get the Nordstrom Visa if you shop at Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack several times a year. The perks, the Rack discount, and 2% on everyday categories make it one of the better department store cards.
Skip it if Nordstrom is an occasional splurge. The rewards only turn into Nordstrom Notes, so a card that pays cash back you can spend anywhere will serve you better.
