Our review

The TSC Visa Card is a sensible card for rural households, and it has a bonus category I almost never see: veterinary services. It earns 5% in rewards at Tractor Supply, 3% at gas stations, grocery stores, and the vet, and 1% on everything else, with no annual fee.

If you feed livestock, keep dogs and cats, or drive long distances, that mix lines up with real spending. The tradeoffs are that rewards come through Tractor Supply's Neighbor's Club and are spent at Tractor Supply, and that on a big store purchase you have to choose between the 5% back and special financing.

Best for: Tractor Supply regulars and pet or livestock owners who spend real money on feed, gas, groceries, and vet bills.
Think twice if: you seldom shop at Tractor Supply, because every reward you earn, even the 3% on groceries and gas, has to be spent there.

Rewards: how it earns

The earning is simple: 5% in rewards at Tractor Supply, 3% at gas stations, grocery stores, and on veterinary services, and 1% on everything else. The vet category is the standout. Vet bills can run into the hundreds or thousands, and hardly any other card rewards them specifically. Gas and groceries at 3% is also strong for a free card. Valued at a flat cent, those rates hold up well against general cash back cards. The catch is that rewards are earned through Neighbor's Club and spent at Tractor Supply, so they are only worth full value if you shop there anyway. On Tractor Supply purchases of $199 or more you can take special financing instead, but then you give up the 5% on that purchase.

The fine print on rates: Rewards come through Tractor Supply's Neighbor's Club and are spent at Tractor Supply, so they do not transfer to travel partners. On a Tractor Supply purchase you pick either the 5% rewards or special financing, not both. The 3% on veterinary services is unusual and makes this card worth a look for pet and livestock owners.

Every point and mile above is valued at a flat 1 cent, the same honest standard we use for every card. Run your own spending through the calculator to see what this card would actually return for you.

Best ways to earn & redeem

Put your groceries and gas spending on this card to earn at its highest rates, and let a different card handle the categories it does not bonus.

When you cash in, take the rewards as cash back or a statement credit, worth a flat 1 cent each. We value every point at a flat 1 cent, so treat any transfer upside as a bonus rather than the baseline — see what your points are really worth.

Pros and cons

Pros
  • 5% in rewards at Tractor Supply
  • 3% at gas stations, grocery stores, and veterinary services
  • Preferred Plus Neighbor status in Neighbor's Club
  • No annual fee
Cons
  • Rewards are spent at Tractor Supply
  • Choosing special financing gives up the 5% on that purchase
  • Only 1% on everything else

The welcome bonus

New cardholders earn a bonus reward with a qualifying Tractor Supply purchase. Citi does not list a fixed amount on the card page, so check the current terms when you apply. Either way it is a small extra on top of the ongoing rewards, not the reason to get the card.

First-year value vs ongoing value

Welcome bonusBonus reward with a qualifying Tractor Supply purchase
To earn itone qualifying Tractor Supply purchase
Est. first-year value*$455
Est. ongoing value / yr*$455

There is no lump-sum welcome bonus, so first-year and ongoing value are about the same, roughly $455 a year on typical spending after the fee. What you see is what you get from day one.

*First-year value counts the welcome bonus, estimated rewards, and annual credits, minus the annual fee; ongoing value is a typical year after. Every point at a flat 1 cent, on average spending.

Benefits and protections

Beyond the rewards, the perks and protections worth knowing about include:

  • Preferred Plus Neighbor status in Tractor Supply's Neighbor's Club

Statement credits

This card does not come with recurring statement credits. Its value is in the rewards rate and welcome offer.

Who should get it, and who should skip it

Get the TSC Visa Card if Tractor Supply is part of your routine and you spend real money on gas, groceries, and vet care. Few free cards fit a farm or pet household this well.

Skip it if you rarely shop at Tractor Supply. The rewards cannot leave the store, so a card that pays cash back you can use anywhere is the better fit.
